The Book

65,000 words · Upmarket Commercial Fiction · Psychological Suspense · Satirical Bite

Set inside a suburban bank unraveling under the weight of unchecked ambition, Every Trumpet Blows for You explores corporate power structures, spiritual grift, and the quiet rebellion of a woman who refuses to be erased.

Maggie Maxwell, a longtime executive assistant, has spent 25 years quietly holding Scotland Valley Community Bank together. But when her beloved boss is ousted in a late-night coup, the bank falls into the hands of Byron Wellington — born Barnabas Lee McBett — a delusional CEO with a messiah complex and a dangerous agenda. At his side is Mavis, his image-obsessed wife (née Beulah Rae Statler), a Lady Macbeth figure backed by her uncle, a shadowy spiritual guru named Pastor Paul.

What begins as a tone-deaf rebrand spirals into a cult-like regime: shame rankings, gratitude chants, and gladiator-style retreats. As the organization collapses into spectacle, Maggie finds unlikely allies in Noemi Waters, a former journalist still nursing old wounds, and Eli Carver, a deceptively unassuming auditor with secrets of his own. Together, they form a resistance — but the cost of speaking up may be everything.
